Don’t get gas in Big Sur.
The drive was nice, but too many annoying tourists who don’t know how to drive or use turnouts. Never get behind a rented Mustang convertible on Highway 1. So slow, when all my GTI wants to do is fly around the curves.

Holy christ on a cracker.
It’s too bad the pesky Grape Vine is in my way, otherwise I could take my e-Golf*.
*With MANY charging stops, but I could do it!

Those prices gave me PTSD

I once drove the entirety of highway one. Fuck everyone in a VW bus and rental RV. Did San Diego to San Fran in one shot with two little ones in tow . Thankfully my Air BnB was stocked with tequila. The most reliable BMW I’ve ever owned hanging out in SF for your time.

Grape vine? It's 101 to SLO and then you are on the PCH to Big sur. Still gonna run out of charge though unless you bring a generator on a trailer.

I’m not surprised in the slightest haha. I always wanted to stop in at one of those stations just to see the price. That’s actually more than I thought it would be. It was about the same price at the track actually which kind of makes me chuckle to see.
And yeah PCH in July lol. You should know better! But even with the tourists it's still worth it I guess for the sightseeing. The only time it'd worth going for a spirited drive there is super early morning in the winter.

I might have a had a hard time not pressing the help button and asking if those prices were in Trinidadian d ollars or something of the like?

N o kidding about those rental Mustang convertibles. The place is stuffed with those and t hey make me feel like PCH has turned into a glori fied Disney ride.

I wonder, since you live in California , do views like that ever get “boring” to you? In Jersey we really don’t have cliffs overlooking the ocean, so I’m rather envious of that. I realize you don’t actually live where you took the shots, but you’re certainly closer to it than I am.
Side note, Tob y is one well behaved pooch. My dogs would be gone if I let them off leash.

We have to settle for cliffs overlooking the Hudson, which is close to an ocean.
Yes, people push their wives off occasionally. For some reason this guy wasn’t charged for over 16 years after the murder. I’ve hiked their, but a lot of the trails bring you right to the edge of the precipice and I don’t like heights. Wife still likes hiking there on occasion. https://www.nj.com/politics/2016/07/nj_man_convicted_of_pushing_wife_off_cliff_loses_h.html

Nice.
Premium is $3.20 here. 87 is $2.60. It’s
... nice.

95 is the cheap one here... but it’s probably based on a different formula

Yeah, we likely use different Octane rating schemes. AFAIK Europe’s 97 is our 93, which we call Premium.

I would love to do that trek in the future. I took it from Long Beach to Malibu earlier this year, but a full length trip in a decent car would be amazing.

Paid today. That’s about USD 6 per US gallon and it’s the cheapest place for a long way .
